"Join a Conductor's Clinic"
One of the New York Philharmonic's skilled clinicians leads a rehearsal of your ensemble working on areas of technique and interpretation in consultation with the ensemble director."

David is one of the Philharmonic's clinicians; here are some photos from a recent sessions with a visiting ensemble:

Recognizing - and expressing gratitude to - the volunteers who are essential to the work of every arts organization...is everyone's job.

So that the group of visiting Philharmonic volunteers would feel more involved - more on the "inside" - at one of the clinics I led, I prepared a list of rehearsal techniques for them to look out for, especially: how I planned to get the students watching and marking their music.  The memo also addressed the underlying learner-centered approaches I'd use, the challenges that were likely to arise, and how I planned to meet them.

i chatted with the volunteers after the rehearsal about what they saw, and it seems they left the session with good feelings and feeling connected with artistic experience.  Our group photo (credit: Jeff Skerik) made its way into the Philharmonic's volunteer newsletter.
